Top ten (10) greatest artist to hail from Trinidad and Tobago

Now at Exposed Caribbean Art and Culture we appreciate all types of art.We generally see art as any form of creative expression. 

In our beautiful twin isle of Trinidad and Tobago we have such a diverse and dynamic spectrum of creative individuals in the arts from music to painting to tattooing to street art. we decide to do a top ten list of the greatest across the board. This list will be based on how long they have been practicing their craft as well as how well it has been reviewed regionally as well a internationally. 

Now, sit back and enjoy a premium taste of the creative juices to course through the veins of Trinidad and Tobago, in no particular order and across many spectrum's of art.

Ahh yes! the stunning madam, Ms. Lorraine Toussaint. Hailing from our beautiful twin isle of Trinidad and Tobago, she is a very well established and successful actress and producer. Known for her work on many a hit movie; especially but not limited to "Orange is the new Black". Born April 4th 1960 in the Caribbean isle of Trinidad and Tobago, Ms. Toussaint has made quite he name for herself as her undeniably natural yet captivating acting skills has led her to the acquisition of awards such as SAG Award and The Critics Choice Award. Appearing also on the silver screen in such shows as CSI, Grey's Anatomy, Ugly Betty and Scandal, Ms. Toussaint is living proof of the treasure that lies in the Art of the acting industry of Trinidad and Tobago.

Number 8- "Bones" (Art- Tattooing)

Yes, you read correctly, after all we did say that we appreciate all types of art. Now this next individual some may know and some may not. But, either way we must say he is worth knowing as he has the artistic ability to make face speak, animal dance and words jump off the human body in his tattoo skills. He is no novice to his craft as he has been doing it for over 20 years. His work can be viewed on the site linked below. We at Exposed Art and Culture recognize and tip our hats to skill and talent when we see it and this fellow definitely has both.

Mr. Stephen Broadbridge is simply put one of Trinidad and Tobago's gems. If you are a lover of photography we urge you to check out his work. Mr. Broadbridge has over 30 years experience. He shoots with meticulous precision and clarity from nature to events, portraits to Industry photography. Now, if you appreciate photography, you will understand how having such a vast and dynamic across which one can capture an image is no easy task. And trust us when we say he does am excellent job of displaying all that life has to offer in a unique and always stunning photograph.

Mr. Earl Lovelace to most need no introduction. He is well known for his national as well as international success. Born July 13th 1935, in the ton of Toco, Trinidad yet raised in Scarborough, Tobago, before moving to Belmont Trinidad, Mr. Lovelace has earned every literary award in the book.

Number 5- Machel Montano (Art- Singer/Songwriter)

The honorable King of Soca music Mr. Montano is a natural born star. Born and raised in Trinidad and Tobago he started performing at a very young age. We are guessing that he always secretly knew what the universe had in store for him. His rise to stardom was not without its trials but he persevered to become the man, the legend!, that we all know and love today.  his career has seen him performing with local, regional and international superstars. He has 14 group albums, and 19 solo albums, no easy feat. Mr. Machel Montano has a lot to be proud of and a lot more in store for the continued success of his career we know. Number 4- Peter Minshall (Art- Carnival Artist)

Ok, so this might be a bit of a cheat, but Mr. Minshal has represented us so well over the span of his life that we just had to include him as one of our own. He was born in Guyana, buttt, he was raised in Trinidad and Tobago and has fused seamlessly with our culture. Mr. Minsahll created his first costume at the age of 13. His designs has since stretched all the way to the shores of London town and back. With many acclaimed masquerade trilogies and award winning performances under his belt. Mr Minshall is easily unmatched as it pertains to the timeless carnival costume designs.

Number 3- Mr. Anthony Tronchin "ChinmanSandra" (Art-Sculpting)

From the tender age of 10, Mr. Tronchin has been carving master pieces in anything from wood to calabash and even clay. He was born to create and so he did. Even though his masterpieces has taken him all over the world, he continues to maintain his roots in Trinidad and Tobago with his beautiful wife at his side. We actually had the pleasure of meeting Honorable Mr. Tronchin and hie gorgeous wife, and we must say it is a chance encounter that we will always remember and treasure. Both are truly humble and genuine people.

Number 2- (Esau) Meiling (Art- Fashion Design)

Now Trinidad and Tobago has quite the ever growing and developing fashion Industry. One that was spear headed by the one and only Ms. Meiling. She has been at it for over 30 years and has a claim to fame that has allowed her to work with stars both regionally and internationally. Her designs have graced many local regional as well as international runways and have garnished many awards as well. While many have come after her doing a splendid job of flying the islands flag high where ever they go, if you want an eclectic yet simple timeless feel of island clothing. Meiling is the designer that you have been searching for.

Numero Uno (Number 1)- Leroy Clarke (Art- Painting, Writer and Poet)

Yet another Artist that needs no introduction to those in this industry and to most outside of it. He is the one and only Master in his field The Honorable Mr. LeRoy Clarke, Master Artist and gifted writer. His work speaks for itself as it tells a story to the viewer of it's own right. We have also had the chance pleasure of meeting him, and well, lets just say that it is only in meeting the man behind the mysteriously captivating work will you truly understand the story that he has painted his way through piece after piece. Some in pain and some in happiness all of his pieces form a larger picture, and serves as the visual aid to the story that once was and is still unfolding. Mr. Clarke we regard you as a father. This legend was also born and raised in Trinidad and Tobago and his work is a must see and must read. Invest your pennies all, this one is worth it!
